SYDNEY SUN SHINES FOR NSW GOLF DAY

It was a beautiful day in Sydney for ASGA’s popular annual NSW Sign & Print Golf Day at the Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club. Over 60 golfers teed off early under a beautiful Sydney sunrise for 18 holes of golf, played in the Ambrose style, in which team members take turns, each hitting the ball from where the previous player’s ball landed. All the teams had great fun, with Team Roland narrowly beating out Team Canon for the overall honours on the day. Huge thanks to our 2025 ASGA Sign & Print Golf Series sponsors Graphic Art Mart, Bentleigh Group, Mulford, ORAFOL, Signarama, SMIB, Spicers and Bounce LED/LetterTech, and local Sydney sponsors Ball & Doggett, Bentleigh Group, Easy Signs and Roland DG.

RIGHT TO DISCONNECT LAWS EXTENDED

The next phase in the rollout of Australia's Right to Disconnect laws is now in effect. From 26 August, 2026, staff working at small businesses that employ less than 15 staff have the right to refuse to monitor, read or respond to contact from their employer or a third-party. While the new laws apply 'within reason', it's important for employers to know that any calls, texts or emails deemed 'unreasonable' contact can be ignored. SCAMS ON THE RISE - PROTECT YOURSELF!

Scams are once again on the rise - in fact, we had a phishing attempt in the ASGA office just this week - so it's always good to brush up on how to recognise the common signs of a scam. The Government has recently released a handy article with some of the most common signs of a scam, and how to report and recover if you fall for these increasingly sophisticated schemes. As a rule of thumb, if you are unsure about a message, don't respond and don't click on links. Read the whole story here

CHANGES TO 'EMPLOYEE CHOICE' PATHWAY

There have been some changes to the 'Employee Choice Pathway' effective 26 August 2025, which relate to the ability for casual workers, under some circumstances, to choose to become a full- or part-time employee. As an employer, you must respond to any requests you receive, but you may also refuse requests in some circumstances. It's important to know what your responsibilities as an employer are - to make sure you're up to date, read this fact sheet from the Fair Work Commission

SUPPORT THE COMPANIES THAT SUPPORT YOUR ASSOCIATION

HERE'S WHAT SOME OF OUR CURRENT MEMBERS SAY...

Our ASGA membership not only gives us access to important resources and expertise, it connects us to a network of like-minded businesses who can help to provide the understanding and support which can be so valuable when you are running a business.

- Ben Kemp - Sign Effects, Wodonga & Wangaratta

In my opinion membership of ASGA is a must. We’ve been part of the Association since Day One, and have used the member benefits on many occasions. In particular, having professional legal and workplace advice and counsel there when we need it is worth way more than the membership fee we pay. Money well spent for sure!”

– Dave, Signarama Redlands.

Amongst everything you are going through, we think you are doing an absolutely brilliant job and we are so grateful to be a part of this organisation, led by you and your team. Thank you for all you do.

- Sue, QLD

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and team for all the general advice and updates throughout this year. If this isn’t a testament to being a ASGA member I don’t what is.

- Justin, VIC
